Cookie exchange sign-up

Bakers claim a cookie kind, so you get variety instead of five sugar cookies.

What's inside

Bakers name their cookie and claim its kind, four places per kind. Allergens travel with each cookie, and bakers who share the recipe write it straight into your booklet.

Running a cookie swap

Send the link three weeks before, so bakers can test a batch. Ask each one to bake six dozen, or one dozen per expected guest if your group is small.

The kinds keep the table varied. With four places each, the fifth chocolate baker sees chocolate is full and picks spiced instead, before buying ingredients.

Copy the shared recipes into one document and print it as a booklet for the day. It's the part people keep after the cookies are gone.

Label each tin with its allergen answers. Guests with allergies can fill their box without asking every baker.

Cookie exchange questions

How many cookies should each person bring?

A common rule is one dozen per participant, so 12 bakers each bring 12 dozen. Most groups cap it at six dozen to keep it fun. Write your number in the intro. This form's intro asks for six dozen, and the thank-you message repeats it, so change both if you pick another amount. Remind bakers to bring an empty box to fill, and keep one plate for tasting so the swap trays stay full.

Why does the sign-up close at 20?

Five kinds with four places each make 20 bakers. When every kind is full, the form stops taking sign-ups. Change the places per kind and the limit follows your numbers. If you remove a kind, lower the limit too, since four kinds with four places hold only 16 bakers. To grow the swap, raise the places per kind before you share the link, then set the limit to the new total.

Can someone join without sharing a recipe?

Yes. Family secret is a fine answer, and the recipe box only appears for bakers who say yes. For a baker who says no, a line with the cookie name and the baker still helps guests remember who made what. A baker who changes their mind can email you the recipe later, and you add it before you print.
