Battle of the bands application
Bands apply with a link to their music and a stage plot.

Picking the eight bands
Open applications six weeks out and close them a month before the show. That leaves two weeks to listen and two weeks for the chosen bands to rehearse.
A music link beats a demo file: bands paste what they already have, and judges listen on any device. Sort the export by genre to build a varied bill.
Stage plots save the night. Hand them to your sound engineer a week ahead, and the changeovers between 20-minute sets stay under ten minutes.
Band application questions
Can solo artists apply?
Yes. The members question starts at 1, so a singer with a guitar applies the same way a full band does. Rename the form to a music competition if most applicants are solo. On a mixed bill, say in the intro whether solo acts also get 20 minutes, so nobody rehearses a set that runs long.
What should a stage plot show?
A simple drawing of where each player stands, the instruments, amps and how many microphones they need. A phone photo of a sketch is enough. Ask bands to note anything they hope to borrow, such as a drum kit or a bass amp. The upload is optional, so email any chosen band that skipped it in the week after you pick the bill.
How do I tell bands they made it?
Use the contact emails in the export. Send the eight bands their set time and send everyone else a thank-you on the date you promised. The thank-you screen says March 15, so edit that date if your plan moves. Ask each chosen band to confirm within three days, and keep two backup bands ready in case one drops out.
